     Она не имеет отношения к доставке _этого_ письма. Это просьба получателю
 отправлять _другое_ письмо (ответное) на другой адрес, например третьему лицу. А
 при невозможности доставки _этого_ письма оно должно быть возвращено
 _отправителю_.

     Если письмо нельзя доставить и нельзя вернуть - оно потеряно. Кто виноват в 
 потере письма? Тот, кто сказал "250 accepted", а письмо не доставил. Вот перед
 тем как взять на себя ответственность за доставку, релей и хочет убедиться, что 
 в случае чего сможет его хотя бы вернуть отправителю.
