 Hу а мне вот, например, более логичным представляется подход а-ля эзернет: 
 каждая следующая попытка делется в (псевдо)случайный момент времени, но в 
 среднем всё реже и реже. При этом хотя бы исключается возможность, когда
 одинаково сконфигурированные клиенты хором кладут несчастный сервер ровно
 через час после того, как он падал в прошлый раз.
