Here is a little explanation about how to install R5 on FreeBSD.

First, you need to install FreeBSD-3.2-19990830-STABLE or newer with the
 kernel sources.

From there, you'll recompile your kernel by doing:

 cd /usr/src/sys/i386/conf
 cp GENERIC MYKERNEL
modify MYKERNEL to add these lines:

 options COMPAT_LINUX
 options SHMALL=4097
 options SHMMAXPGS=4097
 options "SHMMAX=(SHMMAXPGS*PAGE_SIZE+1)"
 options SEMMAP=255
 options SEMMNI=235
 options SEMMNS=255
 options SEMMNU=235
 options SEMMSL=255
 options SEMOPM=201
 options SEMUME=201
 options "P1003_1B"
 options "_KPOSIX_PRIORITY_SCHEDULING"
 options "_KPOSIX_VERSION=199309L"
 options USER_LDT

 From there, you do:

 config MYKERNEL
 cd ../../compile/MYKERNEL
 make depend
 make
 make install

Before you reboot, make sure that your /etc/rc.conf have the line:
linux_enable="YES" in it. Now, after rebooting with your new kernel, you'll need
to install the linux_base_6.0. Grab a copy of this ports from
http://www.freebsd.com/~marcel and copy it to /usr/ports/emulators. Now, do

 mv linux_base linux_base-5.2
 sh linux_base.shar.gz
 cd linux_base
 make
 make install

This will install a fresh copy of the newest linux_base kit (based on RedHat
 6.0).

From there, you can start a bash shell in Linux emulation mode
("/compat/linux/bin/bash") and you'll be able to install the R5 package without
any change to the install script.

After R5 is installed, you'll have to start /opt/lotus/bin/http httpsetup being
the notes user you defined. (/opt/lotus/bin/server is broken for the
 installation process).

This is where I'm stuck now. I always get the message "Linux-emul(236):
modify_ldt() not supported". From what I saw on the net, this function is not
supported in the Linux emulation mode as we speak. Some people are talking
about it but I didn't find anything that can help us.

If somebody here have a solution, I'll be glad to heard about it.
