 The tentacles of the Russian mafia may have tapped into the computer system
 at Arizona State University and at least four other colleges nationwide. A
 program has apparently been installed that allows the students' credit card
 numbers, passwords and e-mail to be stolen, according to campus police. Hard
 drives have been seized from 20 ASU computers in conjunction with a Secret
 Service investigation, said Lt. John Sutton, of the ASU Department of Public
 Safety. The software secretly records keystrokes so that every action taken
 on a computer can be accessed by a remote hacker, Sutton said. Criminals
 could use the system to commit financial crimes, identity theft and
 sabotage, he said. Investigators wouldn't say how the scam was linked to
 organized crime from the former Soviet Union.
