BTW, насчёт Type1:
The auto-hinter currently doesn't use external hints to do
its job, ... Note that we plan the ability to specify external
hints, given that it is based on a constraint system. That
could be used to support native hints in Type 1/Type 2 fonts,

is still available and can be toggled on at compile time,
for those that want to use it anyway (because they purchased
a license from Apple, or because they're in a country where
the patents do not apply, etc..)
