 Установил АПТ-ом сабж, при попытке запустить от рута говорит:
 
 >.........::::::::: cutting started here :::::::::.........
 
 [root@mustdie root]# mysqld

 Fatal error: Please read "Security" section of the manual to find out how to run
 mysqld as root!

 а при попытке запустить от обычного-смертного пользователя говорит:
 
 >.........::::::::: cutting started here :::::::::.........
