 Network Solutions Testing Multilingual Domains

 Good news for non-English Web site owners.  As some of you
 may already know, domain names that use characters outside
 of the basic English character set cannot be registered as
 valid domain names.  Network Solutions recently announced
 they will start a test program that will allow registration
 of domain names in 55 languages and character sets.  This
 new service will be offered through Network Solutions and
 all ICANN accredited domain registrars in "the coming months."
 "The multilingual domain name test bed is a significant step
 towards increasing Internet functionality and e-commerce
 opportunities
 for over 90 percent of the world's population which does not
 speak English as its native language," said Bruce Chovnick,
 General Manager of NSI Registry.

 (Caution:  When I accessed the two Network Solutions links
 below on a Windows 98 computer with IE4 installed, it crashed
